What's Da Tea Recap: Show #1

So last night I told myself that I would be in bed by 1 AM sharp. However, I found myself mesmerized by the witty banter of Father Khalif Jalil Prada (aka Shady P), Susan Mizrahi, and Mother Roxi Moulin on the newest addition to Blogtalk Radio, "What's Da Tea". Shady P's newest venture gives women involved in the ballroom scene a forum to discuss various topics including upcoming events and ballroom 101.

On last night's show, Shady P was joined on-air by the fabulous Mother Roxi Moulin and the legendary Susan Mizrahi. What followed for the next 2 hours was not only funny as all hell but interesting, intriguing, and informative. The three commentators (who are definitely considered to be among the Who's Who of not only the female ballroom scene but mainstream scene as well) spilled the tea on their thoughts about internet houses, balls that they were personally anticipating, and gave their definitions of several ball categories.

The House of Iman's highly anticipated Gag Factor Ball dominated the conversation as well as Prada Weekend (which is sure to be the event of the summer) and Susan Mizrahi's Girlfight! The switchboard remained packed with callers from all over. The lovely Ms. Jessica Rabbitt called in to promote Sweet Heat's kick-off party (which she happens to be hosting) and even spilled a little tea on our beloved DL. Apparently, Ms. Rabbitt hasn't been given her reward money for winning Downelink's Sexiest Hair Contest. [Hmmm, ya'lll know that ain't right...] King Jaedon Prada called in to show love to the host and broke hearts all over America when she announced that she's not only moving to Atlanta in a few days but is also officially off the market! [Ok, I'll wait while a few of you go grab a tissue box. Even I had to shed a tear over that one and I have a girl!] I even dialed up the terrific threesome and commented a few times.

The highlight of the show for me is clear: I loooooved listening to their descriptions of ball categories and their thoughts on the current status of the female ballroom scene. They reinforced that training and dedication is needed to make it to the top of the ballroom scene and understanding the history of the ballroom scene is imperative! When I say that special guest Susan Mizrahi is incredibly funny, down to earth and real as hell... it was such a pleasure to listen to her because it shows that this is not just a trend, this is a LIFESTYLE! The respect that these women have for the ballroom scene is something that I rarely see in the community. They understand the history and the heart of the ballroom scene and it shows through their respect and knowledge.

Though the date and time haven't been announced, information on upcoming shows can be found on Shady P's DL page Shady P. You can also go to Blogtalk Radio to listen to the shows.
